Cameroon is a land of innumerable opportunities for the computer and internet literate youths. Nowadays, we have tons of ways to make money online. Gone are those days when you had to graduate from UB (University of Buea) and become a bike rider or call box operator in order to earn a living. I actually don’t call that earning a living. I call it survival of the fittest. Of course, it’s better than idling around but you should aim for something bigger. Don’t stop in that packing slot. Even if you have a good paying job you can still make money blogging in Cameroon (over 500,000 FCFA per month) not just as extra income but passive income by setting up the autopilot system I’ll share with you.
If I can do it, then anyone can do it. You don’t have to be techy or too technical to do this. The bonus is that you can determine how much you earn, choose when and where to work. I work most of the time from the comfort of my home right on my bed. When I’m travelling, I use my phone to work wherever I find myself at my pace.
With the harshness of the economy, you are likely to remain poor all your life if you keep blaming the government for unemployment or keep depending on your salary that can’t even get you out of debts. That’s if you stay ignorant of the opportunities around you.
Did you know you could start your blog or online business today without spending a dime? You may ask how? Well, the internet has limitless opportunities and ways you could start earning over 500,000 FCFA a month without investment. I have just chosen 500,000 for this step by step guide since it’s the average of what I earn right now. You could earn less or more depending on a lot of factors that we’ll see below.
In short, you can start earning from this very month if you follow this tutorial effectively. Did you know that I use pretty much the same amount of internet credit you use to have fruitless chats with friends to make between 15,000 to 30,000 FCFA every single day from my blog? And guess what! This is just one of the ways I make money online. Now, don’t start thinking I’m making empty claims. I have all my payment proofs and can show them to you.
If you truly want to start making money online as a blogger, you must realize that it takes time, focus, and passion and at times a little financial investment to run a successful blog and start making a million FCFA or more every single month if that’s your goal. Without these qualities, you may not even make a single franc. Personally, I discourage you from listening to anyone who tells you about “get rich quick” schemes. They simply don’t exist. There is no such thing as cheap wealth. So avoid these guys who live frugally to entice you into wasting your money and time on some cheap scams. Most of those
Making money online is not as easy as many people claim though it is really easy if you know how. It takes a process, focus and consistency to start making over 500,000 FCFA a month. There is a path to follow and that’s exactly what I will be sharing with you.
I’m going to show you how you can turn your passion into a main or passive source of income. I will show you:
-how you can blog on just any topic you are passionate about
-my top secret SEO techniques that help increase traffic to my blog
-how I drive huge traffic to my website for free
-how to effectively monetize and
-how to maintain your blog or online business and keep increasing your earnings month after month.
My blogging journey
Before we get started, I will like to briefly share how I got to where I am today.
After graduating with a B.A in Linguistics from the
I had always dreamt of being someone important in society. I had written over 100 poems in high school, won the SW Regional bilingualism award and was enjoying some level of fame among my classmates in school.
I actually came from a very poor background and had to live from house to house (over 10) in order to find shelter and food to school. I use to sell
I actually went through a lot of poverty that I will not wish for anyone. I remember sleeping in the
So, after graduation from UB, I saw my dreams crumbling in front of me in the ocean of unemployment combined with the wicked hands of acidic poverty and hardship. I wanted to be a great writer like Shakespeare, a great politician like Nelson Mandela, a great preacher like Martin
part time teacher…
Ironically, I never applied anywhere after graduation. I was so fed up with the frustrated graduates I had seen already. I didn’t want to waste my time searching for a job when I knew the outcome. Then one day, one of my sisters in
So, I started teaching since the first school took me. I taught in 5 different schools in the space of four years before resigning to settle down as a
I miss teaching… (Hahaha!)
I taught Computer Science, English Language and Literature in English. I taught every single class from form one to upper sixth within those four years. The children loved my style and sense of humour and were doing well in my subjects. The parents too loved me. I was very strict with discipline but too soft and full of humour. When I just resigned, the GCE results came out and my A Level literature students scored 100%. That was amazing. As a matter of fact, I grew to love helping these kids first as a moral agent, a teacher and a preacher of the Gospel. But there was a big problem in every school. The labour was too much and the salary was so small. I had to start teaching in the day schools at 7:30 AM to leave at 4:30 PM and head for the evening school where I closed at 9 PM most days. I even taught on Saturdays. Can you imagine teaching crowded classes for over 40 hours a week to end up around 90,000 FCFA or less in most months!
Answering the call of entrepreneurship…
I had answered the call to be an entrepreneur since 2015 still as a teacher. It all came on me when I read the success story of Mark Zuckerberg who created Facebook in 2004 and was among the first 5 richest billionaires in the world already. I also read of bloggers like Neil Patel and online business owners like Ali Baba. This is when I started investing everything I earned from teaching online. I bought a laptop, bought moneymastertutorials.com and voiceofdominion.com. I would buy internet credit that is valid only from
Finally, in June 2017, I dropped the chalk when my blog started accruing some little earnings and had my first major payment from Google Adsense in December 2017. I resigned because I wanted to focus all my time and energy in blogging to maximize earnings. And of course, I did and will also show you how. At first, I didn’t know how. I made a lot of mistakes but quickly learnt from them. Another thing that motivated me to resign was that two church organizations had just hired me to build and manage their websites. I was already a freelancer. That’s how my company Born to Reign Group (BTRG Inc.) was born. I was also in charge of managing, monetizing and promoting YouTube channels and a couple of other online jobs.
At first, I couldn’t get new clients soon so I focused on
How to make money blogging in Cameroon (over 500,000 FCFA per month) Step by step guide
A blog is like a journal where you share your originally written content with a specific audience on a given niche (topic) of your choice.
Let’s say you choose to be sharing your cooking skills with the world. So, anytime you are cooking, you publish an article on your blog on how to cook that particular meal with pictures of how you are doing it. Or
So, now that you know what a blog is. Let’s see how you can set up a successful blog in 5 easy steps and start making money.
1) CHOOSE A PLATFORM
What is a platform?
Your blog is like a shop in
Which platform should I choose?
There are several platforms out there. Some are better than others. There are paid and free platforms. The paid platforms have a couple of advantages that some free platforms lack. Whichever platform you choose, you can always customize it to suit your desires.
I prefer blogger since it comes with a free https setup which most paid sites lack. Hence, it’s more secure for users and you can always customize it to look even more professional than paid sites.
It comes with an integrated AdSense monetization widget and any web design dummy can get around with it pretty easily.

The design of your website is very important as it determines the load time, mobile friendliness, and user experience. We all know a store that is well designed and classy will attract not just more but faithful and financially capable customers.
The paid platform
The free platform, however, requires very little technical knowledge and anyone can pretty much get around it.
You can always contact me or visit moneymastertutorials.com in case you need assistance at this stage.
2) SELECT YOUR NICHE AND LAUNCH YOUR BLOG
Now that you have chosen your platform, it’s time to launch your blog but what will you blog about?
Choosing the right niche
In order to make money nowadays in any kind of business, you need a niche. For example, you can’t just open a “clothing store” and expect to make money.
You probably need to open a “baby clothing store” or a “wedding dress store.” The more tightly niches your business is, the less competition you have to worry about. This is especially true with online businesses.
In your local area, there will be only so many companies you’ll have to compete with. For example, how many bridal shops do you have in your town? Three, five,
Online, there are thousands and thousands.
Not only do you have to compete with all of the thousands of bridal shops, but you’d also have to compete with potentially millions of affiliates (in case you start promoting affiliate products on your blog) all competing for the top spot.
In this case, you might have to go for an even tighter niche. For example, you could go for petite wedding dresses, plus-sized wedding dresses, or Victorian wedding dresses.
You can’t just write about cooking in general. African cooking is an option but the competition is still fierce.
Niche selection is a critical element of any blog, and in this guide, you’re going to learn how to choose hot ones. I mean the ones that will help you earn 500,000 FCFA or more per month.
There are three basic niches that you can go for. They are…
Passionate niches and
Your interests and abilities
Now, these three basic places are
A desperate niche is one in which the average person has a problem they feel desperate to find a solution for.
Desperate niches are generally the most
Examples of a desperate niche will be Weight loss, Acne, Chronic severe pain, and many types of pest infestations.
Passionate niches can be just as profitable as desperate niches, and they are often less competitive.
Everyone knows that desperate niches are profitable, so they are often highly competitive. There are only so many things people are desperate about.
But there is nearly an endless supply of hobbies and interests.
Some niches have more passionate members than others. For example, golfers spend huge amounts on their chosen sport. Stamp collectors
Look for niches where the average user is fanatical about their hobby. When you find hobbyists that are fanatical about their chosen hobby, you know you have a really good, profitable niche.
Lastly, let’s talk about your interests and abilities…
Many people prefer to choose a niche that relates to one of their own interests, or something they are an expert in.
There are two major benefits…
1) If you’re passionate about the niche yourself, you’re more likely to stick with building your blog or business until you have a chance to become successful.
Many business owners don’t stick to anything long enough to do well, but if you’re very interested in what you’re doing, you’re much more likely to keep doing it until you make money.
2) If you know something about the niche, it will be easier for you to do research, write content, select products (in case of affiliate marketing), and establish yourself as an expert in the niche.
Everything will end up taking less time and actually be easier if you already know a lot about the niche.
Some people find they just don’t have any profitable niches they’re interested in. In this case, move on to something more profitable,

3) DO YOUR SEO HOMEWORK
SEO simply means search engine optimization. You need to optimize your articles or content for search engines like Google so you can start receiving some free traffic to your website coming from them.
There are two types of SEO:
There are a whole lot of free tools to help you optimize your content.
The main idea here is don’t just publish content, optimize it.
4) GENERATE TRAFFIC
The next thing to do is to start generating traffic to your blog. That is, start sending readers to your website.
The more people who visit your blog, the more money you are likely to make. For example, I made over 200,000 FCFA with Adsense from just one of my blogs in December 2017 with about 40,000 page views.
Now, imagine how much I can earn with 1,000,000 page views.
I know of a Cameroonian news blog that has over 800,000 page views each month. I can but imagine how much they make.
There are both free and paid ways to generate traffic to your website. I only recommend paid traffic if you know how to do it. 95% of my traffic so far is free traffic. I run ads on Facebook and Google AdWords.
How to drive free traffic to your blog
Here are the top five ways I use to drive traffic to my website.
Top 9 ways to drive free traffic to your blog
Join four to five forums related to your niche. Then make sure you fill in all the required profile details including your signature or name. Most Forums permit you to link this to your website so people can click on it to visit your blog or learn more about you each time you participate.
Participate actively in these Forums for about two weeks. Then watch the stats and focus on those bringing in the most traffic and leave the other ones alone.
The best way to participate is to ask interesting questions and respond to questions
Search for topics related to your blog and provide great answers to them.
For example, someone asks a question like: “How do they prepare corn fufu and
You can equally get backlinks from these Forums which will improve your
Remember that Google really loves Forums. They’ve got a lot of authority and they’re actually updating all the time.
This is actually free search engine optimization and it’s there forever. So it’s really worth doing.
2) Social Media
You are probably thinking everyone says social media. And you’re right. Everyone says Social Media but that’s all they really say.
You’ve got to really find your targeted audience on Social Media.
Most people will go out there and put all their efforts
You don’t have to be everywhere at the same time. Find out the platform that works best for you and stick to it. If not you’ll be preaching to the wrong people and wasting your time online. Most Cameroonian bloggers actually find themselves in this scenario.
You start sending links to people that aren’t interested in your product or blog and eventually shut off all the chances you had to grow your blog and start making money online.
Finally, always share your posts on Google+. That actually ranks on Google’s front page for a while and often drives in some free traffic. In addition to that, it serves as a
You can equally participate in Google+ communities. This is very much neglected by Cameroonian bloggers.
3) Blog comments
Find blogs related to your niche and leave a comment.
Avoid being spammy by saying click this or click that.
This doesn’t actually bring a lot of traffic in most cases but it brings
Most websites allow you to leave a link to your website which is definitely a backlink which implies good news for your off page SEO efforts. Some of these links are
4) Target Low Volume keywords
Find low search volume with low competition keywords and optimize your articles for them. In this
My article on
This is a site like ask.com. It’s an answer site where people ask questions on just any topic and you can answer any question in there with a nice little link to your website.
I do this often and get about a hundred units every single day.
The secret is to provide awesome answers and get maximum upvotes. Be original and follow the site guidelines. It’s like in the case of Forums. Your content stays there forever and ranks pretty well on Google.
What I do is, I simply go in there and type in a keyword like “make money online” and look for the most recent questions. Do a little research if necessary and then answer the question with a link to my website.
6) E-mail list
Creating an e-mail list is very important. If you had a shop and a customer came in to check out your stuff and then leave, wouldn’t it be wise to get his or her number so you can inform them of any new arrivals?
The same thing applies
If you don’t provide possibilities for people to sign up for your e-mail list, you will end up losing visitors, future visitors and potential customers.
You could also get new subscribers by providing a
Once you’ve set up a way to grow your mailing list, you should regularly send out helpful emails to them and possibly promote your content and also sell products.
You should also create an RSS feed campaign that enables your mailing provider to automatically fetch and send out your latest articles. I get a 13% open rate on my RSS feed campaign.
You may be bothering because an e-mail list programme is not actually free. Of
Never forget this: Your only two assets online are your e-mail list and your blog.
7) Content curating sites
Content curating sites are websites that will help you promote your content to millions of potential readers.
These sites will automatically fetch your article and promote it to millions of targeted visitors. An example of such sites is Scoop.it.
Most businesses use these sites to run huge promos. Which means they are not free. What I do is that I sign up for the free trial and curate as many articles as possible before the trial is over. This will drive crazy traffic to your blog in a very short period and possibly increase sales. The sweetest thing here is that this will stay there forever unless you delete it.
8) Content Showcasing sites
Use sites like Medium, Hubpages to publish some of your articles and link back to your website. The difference between curating and showcasing sites is that curating sites fetch your articles just the way it is including any promotional links in there while showcasing sites are just like blogs with unique content not found elsewhere on the web. It’s like you are sampling your know how.
All you have to do is follow the guidelines. This actually brings in loads of traffic to moneymastertutorials.com. The sweetest part is that your articles benefit from the authority of these sites and rank high on Google. Hence, you don’t just get free traffic but you get to establish your authority and brand in your niche.
This is such a powerful tool. I have integrated WhatsApp in all my major websites and my readers can contact me directly.
This can bring in crazy traffic as people use WhatsApp on
Integrating WhatsApp Contact buttons on your blog is pretty simple if you’re using WordPress.
There are over 50 main ways to monetize your blogs but a few of these work best for Cameroonian blogs taking into consideration a lot of factors.
As a Cameroonian blogger, your number one option to monetize your blog is Adsense which is a CPC/CPM advertising system. Almost every single monetized Cameroonian blog uses this. Now, the earnings may quite
The second best way for Cameroonians to promote their blog is through affiliate marketing. This is the fastest (not the easiest) way to make money online.
Affiliate marketing is simply the process of sending people to another
You could use Affiliate Marketing networks like Jumia, Clickbank, ShareASale, ImpactRadius etc.
Other ways to monetize your blog include selling your own digital products like ebooks, offline products, banner space, etc.
You could also sell your services directly on your site
There are several other ways to monetize your blog but as I said not all will work for Cameroonian bloggers.
6) GROW AND MAINTAIN YOUR BLOG
To grow and maintain your blog you need to do the following:
7 ways to grow and maintain your blog
Focus on your blog until you see results. I used to work for over 10 hours on certain days when I was setting up my blog. It was actually my life.
2) Write original and unique content
Original content tends to do well with both search engines and readers. You grow faster and establish your authority quickly.
You definitely don’t know everything so always cite your sources which makes you reputable and proofs that you did your homework well. Plus, site to good sites actually does a lot of good to your SEO. Birds of the same feathers flock together, they say.
3) Write long posts of about 2000+ words
Long posts always do well on Google rankings and are considered as the pillars of your blog. So, the more of these, the more solid your blog will be.
4) Write consistently
In order to succeed online, you must be consistent. I don’t mean you must write
5) Focus on one niche.
Don’t be mixing things up or tend to write about anything that is trending even when it’s not related to your blog. Your site will appear as irrelevant to Google and possibly AdSense.
6) Always update your blog
Always review and update your blog. Also, bring fresh stuff often.
7) Engage with your readers
Engage with your audience. Respond to comments on your blog and social media platforms. Really care about your readers and fans.
For example, I posted the Cameroon General GCE results on gcegateway.blogspot.com and someone sent me a
